Game of Thrones hasended , and the results were motley . The seriesdid enwrap upsome of its biggest storylines — some a fleck more confusingly than others — but a few were also give up early . Here ’s a tilt of some of the mystery we ’ll never see solved … unless the showrunnerspull a Russo Brothersand come out over - explain everything after the fact .
bodge up one church building does n’t belt down an entire organized religion . Even if it ’s the gravid one .
1. What happened to the Faith of the Seven, and religion in general?
For chiliad of year , the Faith of the Seven was the most brawny religious belief in Westeros . Its forcefulness and influence were unparalleled , even spawning a militarized , extremist branch that most take command of King ’s Landing . Then in season six , Cersei Lannister muck up up the Great Sept , killing the High Sparrow and his follower , along with many of the noble in King ’s Landings . After that watershed consequence , it was like the Faith of the Seven had never existed .
We never got an account for what befall to the Faith of the Seven subsequently , or organized religion as a whole . Did Queen Cersei Lannister , First of Her Name , abolish organized organized religion in Westeros … perhaps so she would n’t have to resolve to anybody about all that incest business ? Did she in a flash prevent it ? And if so , what happened to the septs and septons ? Did the Red God gain a following in its absence , or perhaps a new organized religion ? And why have n’t we envision the rise of another extremist chemical group looking to fill in the gaps ?
But the biggest question has to do with the people themselves . The Faith of the Seven was a critical part of workaday life for many Westerosi . It seems eldritch that millions of multitude would totally abandon their lifelong spiritual praxis just because Westeros ’ version of the Vatican was pulverize .

2. Who is Dorne’s new prince, and what is his deal?
When Grey Worm brought Tyrion Lannister before the council at the Dragonpit , there were plenty of fresh faces in the group . Not everyone was wear House sigils so it was impossible to secern who some of them were . Did we spot a Howland Reed in there , advert out next to Samwell Tarly ? Maybe , who know . Personally , I do n’t think it weigh much . They ’re the new lords and ladies of Westeros , it ’s probably all right .
The one I am curious about though is the novel prince of Dorne . He ’s the only one who arrive sort of an introduction before this scene : He was briefly mentioned as Daenerys and her council were turn over their next step to take King ’s Landing ( which went , well , kinda ill ) . But we have no mind who this gentleman’s gentleman is , or what his claim is to that title . give how much fourth dimension we spend in Dorne in time of year five , evince the res publica ’s unique need and demand — and following it up withEllaria and her Sand Snakes staging a coup — it seemed unearthly to indite off what should be a relate office shift with a shrug and no name .
3. Is Ellaria Sand alive or dead?
On that Dornish Federal Reserve note , let ’s speak about the tragedy that is Ellaria Sand . The series finale made a compass point to show us that Edmure Tully had survived and was now lord of the Riverlands . The last meter we realise him he was Walder Frey ’s captive and , given his strong-arm status , it look like was still rotting in a electric cell at the Twins . After Arya Stark murdered Walder and his house in season six and seven , seemed potential that he ’d simply hunger to death with no one to look after him or free him . But apparently , he was rescue offscreen at some point .
Thelast fourth dimension we sawEllaria Sand , she was locked in the Red Keep ’s dungeon , having been capture by Euron Greyjoy . Cersei made it a spot that Ellaria would survive to slowly watch her daughter ’s organic structure rot , even if she had to force - provender her . There ’s no cause to believe Ellaria was dead before the attack on King ’s Landing . Did the keep crack from Daenerys ’ fire , or was she still down there , slowly starving to last ? Did anyone bother to check the dungeon for survivors of Cersei ’s anger ?
It seems disdainful ( and kind of sexist ) that Edmure Tully was saved from his open - ended fortune , but Ellaria Sand ’s was ignored . Sure , she committed some pretty frightening deeds , but this show is n’t about rewarding moral people . Tyrion Lannister killed a cleaning woman , and he was made Hand of the King . We merit to know what happened to Ellaria — particularly since she was correct under their foot the entire time .

Blowing up one church doesn’t kill an entire religion. Even if it’s the big one.
4. What else is in Samwell’s stolen books?
Samwell Tarly spent too much fourth dimension spell his George R.R. MartinA Song of Ice and Firefanfiction and not nearly enough on reading the ease of those book he steal from the Citadel . Given how they revealed the verity about Jon Snow ’s parent and teased theprophecy of Azor Ahai(which may or may not have been fulfilled , depending on your peak of survey ) , it seems unusual that they were desolate after the one shocking reveal the show thought we needed to love .
Also , you ’d think Samwell would n’t be allowed to be Grand Maester for King ’s landing place after , you know , ending his training early and stealing a crew of whoreson . But Bran is king now , so he gets to make the rules .
5. When will the Iron Bank come to collect?
Queen Cersei borrowed a lot of money from the Iron Bank of Braavos to secure the services of the Golden Company ( hopefully she got the elephant deposit back)—money that the depository financial institution presumably desire to collect . In A Dance With Dragons , the Iron Bank agreed to give Stannis Baratheon a loan on the experimental condition that he assure to give back all outstanding debts tied to the Iron Throne . The bankhas no issueasking ( or demanding ) monarchs pay back debts that were create by others .
The Iron Bank , which is considered one of the most potent forces in the entire know humankind , fairly much disappeared from the account in time of year seven . Now , we ’ll never lie with how the Iron Bank was cover its relationship with Cersei , or how it ’s reply to this sudden change in power . It could collect on all its outstanding debt in Westeros , throwing the kingdom into chaos . Or it could throw its financial support behind a fresh leader , as it has done before , promising even more bedlam and destruction . I think Bronn , the new Master of Coin , has bigger problems to worry about than closed cathouse .
6. Where is Jaqen H’ghar?
There are many characters who were left on the proverbial cut room trading floor in the final time of year . For example , there was the sea rover Salladhor Saan , who rescued Davos Seaworth on more than one occasion but never let to play a part in the Great War . But the biggest unresolved mystery involves Jaqen H’ghar , who everybody accept would descend back in the last time of year in a major room . There was the possibility that he was actuallySyrio Forel , Arya ’s dancing master who presumably pass away in the first time of year ( another affair that was never confirm ) .
Except … nothing materialize . Jaqen never returned . At least as far as we hump . You could always do a fanfiction headcanon about what nerve he was taking on that time of year ( my suffrage is on King Bran ) . Now , Arya is off on her own marvellous adventures , and we ’ll never know what happened to the man who instruct Arya the game of faces . Did we want to do it ? Not needs . But it seemed unsatisfying to have that be where Jaqen ’s history ended .
7. Literally everything and everyone in Essos
Out of all the report that got no closure in Game of Thrones , Essos has to be the prominent . Literally , as it ’s an total continent .
The moment Daenerys bequeath Essos , it ’s like that whole area never exist or count . We never learned what bechance to Daario , as he and the Second Sons clamber to keep the peace in Meereen . In fact , Meereen ’s entire fate is completely up in the air , along with all the other places Daenerys liberated . How are the Dothraki women and children faring , after all their male fighter aircraft leave to go fight back in Daenerys ’ war and presumptively never riposte ? The Warlocks of Qarth , who subsist Daenerys flak and even attempted to kill her after the events of season two ? Nothing .
The whole office makes it seem like Essos , which is a bigger and vastly more interesting continent , never really mattered in Game of Thrones . At least not as its own discrete place . It was just a stepping stone for Daenerys to get where she needed to be . This comes across as questionable and problematic . Essos was largely live by the great unwashed of vividness whose report were never given right exploration or shutdown . By never fall out up with any of Essos ’ boastful stories or dangle thread , all it became was a situation where characters of color were props in service of a blank charwoman ’s story — a womanhood who cease up being the baddie , think of who knows what chaosshe will in her Wake Island .

Blowing up one church doesn’t kill an entire religion. Even if it’s the big one.
8. What was the point of the horse?
Okay this is just a small inquiry . time of year eight ’s penultimate episode , “ The Bells , ” ended with Arya witness a beautiful white horse and riding it out of the smoldering ruins of King ’s Landing . It was a gorgeous prospect that seemed to stand for how Arya had become the prosopopoeia of end , riding on a pale horse . Did it mean she was destined to kill Daenerys ? LOL nope . But that ’s only part of the job . The next fourth dimension we see her , in the series last , she ’s leaving the gate of King ’s Landing . On foot . Where did the horse cavalry go ? !
