Vampires fall into more categories than sparkly or non = sparkly . 1 ) Ventrue
Ventrue represents vampires at their most swish . 2 ) Assamite

Yes , it may be completely clichéd to be a still , baronial assassin , but when you could take control of another lamia ’s origin from afar , people do n’t tend to give you too much grief about it .
3 ) Tremere
Although one of the newest lamia clans , the Treme are basically Ventrue Lite — first-rate - organized , super - into the Masquerade , crack - pro - vampire society . What they lack in the Ventrue ’s societal status and power they make up for with Thaumaturgy , or blood magic . Not only does Thaumaturgy have the welfare of creeping other lamia out , it has a huge potpourri of superpower to take from , let in alchemy , elementary ascendency , conjuring , corruption , and so much more . Tremere are the mages of Vampire , and since all vampires are at least slightly durable , Tremere do n’t necessary get knocked out the 2d someone swelling into them like D&D ’s mages do . It ’s this monolithic flexibility that makes the Tremere one of the best clans in the Masquerade .
4 ) Lasombra
Yes , the Lasombra are one of the kin group of the evil Sabbat , and yes , they be given to have those traditionally vicious , full jet - sinister heart and they ’re also the vampires whose reflection do n’t show up on mirror and thus are debate extra - damned by God for some reason . But if you do n’t bear in mind being outright wickedness , Lasombra are awe-inspiring . They ’re essentially evil Ventrue , with the same society and might and resources , but with more backstabbing . Plus , Lasombra have super - awesome shadow powers , including crazy - black shadow tentacle … and at only Stage 3 of the Obtenebration power . If you do n’t mind being evil — and if you do , mayhap you should n’t be playing Vampire in the first place — Lasombra are the way to go .
6 ) Malkavian
The Chaotic Neutral of the Vampire humanity . While Chaotic Neutral is a huge summation in Dungeons & Dragons game — it fundamentally allows you to do anything and justify it because you ’re crazy , woo ! — it ’s supremely annoying in Vampire , where players all need to be on the same page regarding the Masquerade , lest the adventure quickly become half-baked and/or dumb . If a character can be harebrained without wrecking the entirety of vampire society in the first five minutes of playing , they really have some cool benefits , include Obfuscate , the power to vanish , and Dominate , which can be used to drive other people insane . And that ’s plenty of fun .
7 ) Brujah
Typically described as the hotheaded greyback of the Vampire world , the Brujah seem to be an inexplicably democratic selection among player . peradventure this is because the Brujah are the closest Vampire comes to have a basic “ Fighter ” form , whose top executive include Potence and Celerity — super - strength and super - speed — which is right because Brujah are basically just thugs . They do n’t really have a club to mouth of , so they wander around , doing what they need , despite the fact its variety of punishing to be a Johnny when you ’re still bound to the rules of the Masquerade that keeps vampirism a secret from the deadly creation . plainly , many Brujah are still beef about the devastation of Carthage , where hey had their golden years . It was 2200 years ago , guys . Get over it .
- Toreador
Toreador are the creative person of the vampire world , which is to say they ’re really pretentious and annoying . They ’re the ones who descend in erotic love ( with homo , other lamia , soup cans , whatever ) and thus inhale crap romances like Twilight . They ’re also like intoxicated babies ; easily captivated by shining things that materialize to hitch their eye . As the Vampire Wiki states , “ Such thing as painting , neon sign , or even sunrises can captivate [ Toreador ] . It want a successful self-control roll to break the fascination quickly ; otherwise , the Toreador will stand , awed and helpless , for moment or even hour . ” Which is stupid and dangerous . The only reason Toreador are this high on the list is because they have the super - speed power of Celerity .
9 ) Tzimisce
Another outright evil vampire clan , the Tzimisce are the phantasmal leaders and student of the Sabbat . What do they study ? Vicissitude , or the magic of bone and frame shaping . Basically , it ’s Clive Barker : The Magic Power . man subsist only to be mess with and torture in order for the Tzimisce to continually germinate themselves , although I think we all know its mostly about the distortion . On the down side , Vicissitude does n’t seem traditionally Vampire - y at all , so you ’re basically playing an evil wizard who needs to drink descent for some reason . On the plus side , manifestly Dracula was a Tzimisce , even though it make no sense whatsoever . So that ’s something .
10 ) Nosferatu
The Nosferatu seem like they might be the worst kin in Vampire ; they ’re all ugly as Scheol ( consider Count Orlock from Nosferatu , natch ) , they ca n’t hide among man at all , and they generally hide in sewers . Moreover , they do n’t really have any benefits to equilibrate all the crap aliveness ( er , unlife ( well , the Vampire RPG ) ) has dumped on them . for certain , the Nosferatu are suppose to be really good ad spying thanks to their Obfuscate power , but Malkaians have Obfuscate too and they do n’t make people need to give up when they see them . essentially , the only reason the Nosferatu are n’t on the bottom of the list is that there a office in being a ogre that expect truly monstrous — a gravitas in saying “ fuck it ” to the rest of Vampire lodge / the plot and pick out to wear out your hideous swearing on your arm . And face . And everything else .
11 ) Giovanni
Basically the vampire mob , the Giovanni are obsessed with money and necromancy , because with black art they ’d basically just be the veritable family , and that ’d be super - boring . They only make vampires out of their own very large family , which — and this is pathetic — who do n’t know their folk is full of evil blood - sucking magic lamia until they get chosen to become vampires themselves . Although the Giovanni do n’t affirm the Masquerade or the Sabbat , they tend to be evil assholes , what with all the mafia and death magic trick and whatnot . But being a vampire and select to spend all your time trying to make money is like having a giant robot and using it for doing nothing but carry food market .
12 ) Gangrel
Gangrel have two master characteristics : they ’re nomads and they have an affinity for creature . The first is just a fancy way of saying Gangrels are essentially bums . The second is far less cool than it sounds . While other vampires are casting blood magic and tearing humans asunder like fresh bread with tincture tentacles , Gangrel are talking to dog and shit . Okay , technically they could have a wolf familiar , but this is n’t Westeros ; you do n’t just find Hugo Wolf lie on the side of the road , and even if you do it ’s not like you’re able to bring them into a cabaret . Even worse , when Gangrel frenzy and mislay control , they start to derive animal - similar physical characteristic , like tails or cat ears , which wee-wee them wait like ceaseless furries . They only matter that would make Gangrel ’s even slightly cool is if they could turn into clouds of cricket bat , but they ca n’t . Ever .
13 ) Ravnos
Ravnos are vagabonds , which is a fancy way of saying nomads , which we ’ve already established is itself a fancy style of “ bums . ” The Ravnos are thief and charlatan who are closely entwined with the Gypsies and have helped perpetuate the stereotype that Gypsies are also thieves and charlatan . In fact , the game ask that all Ravnos have at one frailty they invariably have to make Willpower roles to fend off doing , “ browse from plagiarism to mass murder . ” So in Vampire , the stereotype is apparently true , which is kind of racialist if you ask me and why they ’re at the bottom of this leaning . ( Also , calling “ mass execution ” a frailty seems … a number of an understatement to me . )
