A couple years ago , Paramount and Hasbro Studios gathered a crowd of writer together for one sanctified purpose : to write some picture about a caboodle of toys from the ‘ fourscore . Now , it seems , that noble dreaming may not come up to fruition after all .
Two of the author affect in this illustrious tabular array of action figure wordsmiths were John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein , who write Spider - Man : Homecoming . And consort to them , two movies they worked on , Rom : Spaceknight and M.A.S.K. ( Mobile Armored Strike Kommand ) , are n’t likely to see sunlight any time soon .
As quoted by Cinema Blend , Goldstein say the following :
Those are in all probability not likely to see the lighter of day , unless they ’re moving on freestanding from us . It ’s a funny affair . We spent three week in a room with a lot of gifted writer . We break 11 or so pic and , I do n’t know . It just kind of depart into the vortex . There ’s been some leadership change at Paramount , so it ’s hard to say . Nobody ’s contacted us about those .
Rom : Spaceknighthas already been a comic series by author Bill Manto , who spun a simple plaything into a space opera for the age , and M.A.S.K was the national of a media franchise formerly owned by Kenner , about an belowground chore force of Hero fighting the criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. ( Vicious Evil internet of Mayhem ) . Neither , it seems , are going to be the subject of motility pictures any time soon .
Some Hasbro moving picture , however , do still seem to be going forward . According to reports in December , an upcoming reboot of GI Joe , once though to be the start of Hasbro ’s Cinematic Universe , is still slated for a 2020 departure date . In addition , a Micronauts movie is also design for 2020 , with a Dungeons and Dragons movie and a plastic film about an unnamed Hasbro attribute supposedly planned for 2021 .
No entity has so far been able-bodied to retroflex the dizzying success of Marvel ’s Cinematic Universe , and Hasbro may yet be another competitor to get out out of the airstream . At least we ’ll always have Transformers movies .
