Well , it turns out they can do that — but not because of particular speaker . In Berlin , professor Jörg Müllerhas developed something called a “ BoomRoom . ”Using a gang of 56 directional audio loudspeakers , 16 gesture - realisation photographic camera , and — most importantly — hyper - intelligent audio - processing algorithms , this room make an interactive strait experience unlike any other . Specific sounds represent data — like an electronic mail or a tweet — fly around the elbow room and can be caught and take heed to by just grab at them . New Scientistexplains :
A music track , for instance , could be assigned to an object in the room such as a vase . To play the cut you only pick up the watercraft and “ pour out ” a track in mid air .
