To be fair , I ’m still not sure what to make of “ 3 Minutes to Midnight ” — like a lot of Continuum episode , it contains some somewhat rush secret plan points and some paw - rippled dialog . Kiera and Lukas jump to some jolly raving mad conclusions in the final scenes of the episode , and Kiera seems to be save a sermon direct from the writers when she sound out that the future is “ an ever - evolving organism , detached to alter and adjust as it pick up set . ” Plus Kiera seems to be deliberately trying to sow in discord among the Liber8 rate by throwing in random and irrelevant stuff like the fact that Garza had a secret deal with Future Alec into the conversation — which has the effect of making the whole thing a bit more puzzling .
But here ’s what I recollect we ’re supposed to take forth from all this : The Liber8 work party do back in clock time to change the vicious corporate time to come of 2077 , with Future Alec ’s blessing . All of this leaves me feeling as though trying to change the past is ultimately futile in the Continuum universe — there ’s the fact that you ’ll just make a blade new timeline , so the people who do n’t travel back in prison term will never even do it if they succeeded . But also , as presently as you journey back , you ’d better demolish your prison term - travel gadget before someone else regain it and decides to cheat up the timeline you make . But most of all , you’re able to never predict the consequences when you part get it on around with sentence — thing are truss to get weird , and unpredictable .
None of the above explain why everybody set off talking about being “ pawns in someone else ’s biz . ” When Alec lead back in meter , his only goal was to keep Emily ’s life — there was no biz , other than that . ( I ’m starting to remember that a formula of pollex on Continuum is , “ If it come out of Kiera ’s lip , disregard it . ” On most shows , the primary character is often a mouthpiece for the writers , but here it ’s almost the contrary . )
Meanwhile , the installment ’s “ B ” plot gives us more of a touch as to how Brad ’s darkest timeline takes bod . Alec is pushing forward with the Halo twist even though some pct of users will go loony and become ultra - vehement . ( fetch ta love his corporal advocate saying that it ’s like shipping a first - generation mathematical product that ’s a “ brick , ” because you could fix it in the second coevals . Also produce ta love Alec using his tech to fob Kiera ’s lie - detector apparatus . )
And it turns out that Alec ’s tech wo n’t just turn some percentage of the population into psychos — it will also transmit “ biometric and psychoanalytical ” data to the Piron host , as Dillon recite Carlos . This will activate the pig to catch “ warning signs of aberrant behavior ” and prevent terrorism and crimes before they happen .
Carlos spends a lot of the episode looking into the tearing attacks by Halo test subjects , and he enlists the aid of Julian , who ’s already become fully settle at Piron as a “ brand ambassador . ” Alec insists to Julian that he ’s already bushel the problem with Halo , and the new chips are “ perfect ” — and that all Julian will be doing if he fights against it will be foreclose people from being saved from cancer . How can that be wrong ?
In any case , things just got really , really complicated — enough to make you desire to clutch your head and dissipate a few jam in the paries , just like Lukas does . Speaking of which , where are the Lukas GIFs ? Here , I ’ll take off :
