The Apple Airport Express ( shipping this week , by the way ) is a comme il faut pick for those already using iTunes , but what if you want to pour more than that ? NoDRM take a(nother ) bet at one selection , the D - Link DSM-320 Wireless Multimedia Player , an 802.11g - enable streaming media outlet that can well out not only audio , but all sort of different variety of video — most of the major telecasting formats in fact ( even DVD VOB files ) . The only real downside they see to the$166player is the inability to deepen the panorama proportion of picture ( which can moderate to movies looking oddly smushed ) and the inability of 802.11 chiliad to always leave enough bandwidth to stream telecasting over even relatively short distances , say , from a downstairs computer to an upstairs Multimedia Player . Of course , you may always fall down back on wired Ethernet .
Links and more at bottom .
PC Magazine had quite a few more event with the DSM-320 when they reviewed it last month , but they also felt they were issues that could be addressed by a microcode update . In NoDRM ’s review , they mention that their DSM-320 had already had at least one robotlike firmware rise . I question if that fixed the problems ?
