While other cloth do feature of speech , terracotta is the dominant component in each design — in turn march that it ’s way more various than we belike all think . Marta Polenghi , one of the designer , explain to Dezeen :
“ Terracotta is a very strong element in the civilization of Mediterranean nation . In every Italian home there is a vase , or a pot or a table crafted by terracotta artisans . We decided to pay up court to this material and the trade surrounding it by dedicating a whole expo to it . ”

“ It has been really interesting to work on with : it ’s a very awake material that demand to be do it well in ordering to foresee the last result . These constraint force designers to set up a dialogue with craftsmen . ”
The resultant are striking . Andrea Sciarrino worked with craftsman Walter Castelnuovo to produce stackable wine stoppers ; Alessio Monzani created a
six - legged terracotta side table ; Jacopo Ferrari design a squeezer made from two terracotta eggshell ; and Laboratorio San Rocco made the beautiful curl Lampada board lamps .

All told , it ’s a lovely monstrance of how an ancient fabric can be used to create modern products . The objects will be on display at the Paris Design Week in September . [ Dezeen ]
