Yay for Julian , the Traveler inhabiting Tyler ’s dead body , for doing what needs to be done , on last dark ’s Vampire Diaries . Seriously , did anybody else pass half an 60 minutes clapperclaw at the concealment for somebody to do this ? Spoilers ahead …
Just how selfish are Stefan and Elena ? They ’re so afraid to give up their immortal lives , they ’re uncoerced to excoriate everybody they bang to obliviousness ( including Damon and Caroline ) and possibly eliminate magic from the ENTIRE WORLD . You would have have a bun in the oven Stefan , at least , to opt for nobly sacrificing himself the second it became exculpated that the continued existence of both doppelgangers would activate the Travelers to loosen all magic , everywhere .
( Speaking of which , was the fact that the Travelers ’ spell would undo all conjuring trick cite at all prior to this sequence ? It seemed like the show just sort of pull it out of a hat — should n’t this have been the form of info you might want to make a dramatic , stake - raise reveal ? Like , a few episode ago ? )
Let ’s just tally all the horrible decisions that brought Stefan to the head where he utterly require to die . First , Stefan could n’t accept Elena being a vampire , and plunge a crazy quest to get the cure for immortality . That lead to Silas total back from the dead , and Jeremy dying ( which led to Bonnie dying and becoming the Anchor of the other side . ) Then Stefan helped Silas heal his immortality so he could be bolt down . The death of Silas mean that the Travelers could finally have just one Stefan - form doppelganger in the world .
Then Stefan helped the traveler to tag down and kill his innocent doppleganger , thus putting their ( even at the time ) patently evil scheme into motion . After that , Stefan and Elena flailed around , doing everything in their power to make thing worse — and when it was obvious that the Travelers necessitate both doppelgangers to mold their spell , they did n’t get as far aside from each other as potential . Seriously . direct Stefan to Nepal and Elena to Antarctica . Send them far , far off . The Travelers are n’t immortal . Just hole out up for 60 years and then you ’ll probably be fine . bad case scenario : hold back a few hundred years until there ’s another written matter of one of you .
But no . They stuck together , making them leisurely to seize , and then basically offer themselves up . And when it was clear that they were going to die one way or another , they still choose to keep living for a few minutes longer , at the cost of god knows how many other lives .
So glad Stefan finally reaped the reinforcement he ’s been slowly gain for the past two season . Even though I kind of love Stefan , I also hope this is permanent . ( It wo n’t be . )
