We got an other feel at footage of Dreamworks ’ supervillain epic Megamind . With Will Ferrell as the lead , and Tina Fey as the scrappy newsman , we had high expectations . So was it suspicious , or a flop ? Spoilers forwards …
First off , we find out that Megamind was n’t always malevolent . At least his childhood construct pattern does n’t look that way . We see a word picture of our anti - hero with short leg , a cherub face and a big blue bean . Megamind director Tom McGrath explains that the short blue boy came from an in advance civilization in a distant extragalactic nebula . He was sent away by pod as his planet was being destroy , but or else of wrap up in the implements of war of a loveable farming duo in Smallville , he landed in a prison . Thus he grew up with a criminal mind .
Megamind is voiced by Will Ferrell — so you guessed it , he tends to go on foresightful tangents and constantly mispronounce his home city Metro City as Metrocity over and over again . gratefully when pair up with the residue of this amazing voice casting , he does n’t overpower the yield . If anything , his elan works well with his character ’s various cape ensembles — one mantle is for business , another mantle is dub the Black Mamba , and so onward .
Meanwhile Metro City prospers thanks to the help of Brad Pitt ’s Metro Man , who ’s something of an Elvis , traverse with Patrick Warburton , with a jumbo savior complex , and fringe . In fact , Metro Man is so good at playing the hero sandwich , Metro City starts catch rather complacent , and some the great unwashed have even stop wear out seat knock . Because what ’s the pointedness when you have an ever - argus-eyed hero sandwich in town ?
Of course , none of this is meant to last , and in the first instant of our screening we see Megamind with his half - fish , half - Gorilla gorilla sidekick Minion , voice by David Cross , pull up in their inconspicuous car with local newsman Roxanne Ritchi as their hostage . Roxy is played by Tina Fey , and we really hope this is something Fey continue to do because the back - and - forth give-and-take between Roxy and Megamind did n’t lack a beat . In fact , while she may be Metro Man ’s gallon , she ’s get a much better interpersonal chemistry with Megamind — perhaps a love story is in the piece of work ?
Moving on , Megamind call for Roxy hostage and judge to impress her into screaming with a barrage of accelerator pedal , alligators and lasers . The unflappable Roxy one - line drive each weapon off , and distinctly she ’s used to being abduct . Finally , Megamind give up and moves on with his diabolical plan .
cut down back to Metro City , Metro Man is harbour the bunch outside of his new Metro Man Museum , until Megamind interrupt on the orotund screens in the middle of the crowd . Megaman informs everyone of his evil program while Roxy assure from behind him that she is n’t the least bit frightened at all , and that she ’s at the old abandon observation tower — there always seems to be one of those . Metro Man takes to the skies and crashes into the building . But what ? It ’s a gob ! Megamind was n’t there at all !
Megamind rush to release his death - ray of light , which is still booting up . Meanwhile Metro Man puff for posture and reveals that he can not take to the woods , because the copper liner in the observatory is his only weakness . Safely in a fake observatory , Megamind ca n’t freaking conceive that fuzz is Metro Man ’s helplessness , and blows the entire place , and Metro Man by . The whole thing is really reasonably horrific , and screaming .
This is where the footage end . What we see next are a few stills of Megamind conception fine art including the villain sitting at what look like the Oval Office . According to McGrath , Megamind does indeed take his place as ruler of the mankind . But with out the challenge of Metro Man , he ’s world-weary . So what does he do ? Take Roxy ’s photographic camera guy and call on him into a buffed up cherry-red headed superhero named Titan , voiced by Jonah Hill . But , deplorably , the magnate corrupts the once camera man and sour him evil , so Megamind is force to make a decision : is he the hero or the villain in this story ?
We ’re mad — like most recent Dreamworks productions , it ’s overgorge with witty and timely jokes , oddball characters and fantastic voice gift . Let ’s just hope the CG eubstance of Megamind can keep up with Ferrel ’s mouth .
