They do n’t always fit , and they ’ve brave tragedy that would be enough to fracture any marriage , much less one betweentwo of Westeros ’ most brawny families . ButLord Corlys Velaryon(Steve Toussaint ) and Princess Rhaenys Targaryen ( Eve Best ) still somehow have the most enviable family relationship on House of the Dragon . On a show featuring mostly coupleswith operatic problem , Corlys and Rhaenys enjoy a reciprocal esteem and affection that feel all too uncommon .
Speaking to a grouping of journalists , including io9 , ahead ofHouse of the Dragon ’s season two premiere , Toussaint and Best were asked for their dependable relationship advice , in the context of their characters on the Game of Thrones prequel .
“ tattle to each other , ” Best said . “ [ Rhaenys ] has been sort of crown of thorns with [ Corlys ] because things fall up in season two that actually are n’t state of war - related , but that seriously examine this bond . Rhaenys has been irritated with Corlys , because [ there ’s ] somebody who wants to tattle and contend with the elephant in the way and somebody who does n’t want to talk and wants to just close everything under the carpet , and it ’s intensely teasing , ” she enunciate , intelligibly not wanting to give away any plot despoiler .

“ But I also feel that what I want to say to her is : you have to show your exposure because she ’s so indomitable , she ’s so strong , and she ’s so honest at keeping her cool , ” Best continued . “ She never lets him know , really , to what extent she ’s injure because I think her heart and soul is broken . That was so , so hard to hold that . I wanted to say to her , ‘ have him see how much pain you ’re in ! You do n’t have to hold everything together . You do n’t have to do all the study . ’ This is a two - way matter . So I would say communication is primal and allowing yourself to be vulnerable [ are ] my two pieces of advice . ”
Toussaint agreed . “ I reckon that for Corlys it ’s the same . But my thing would be : pay attention to your wife because sometimes , your partner may not say something overtly , but you’re able to separate by the means that they behave . But he does n’t , in the sense of ‘ if you do n’t say [ something about it ] , it ’s all right . ’ I have pick up over the years to pay attention to demeanor just as much as the spoken word , and also how something is say , is just as much as important as what is sound out . ”
io9 also let a chance to ask Toussaint about two mysterious raw fibre the Sea Snake will interact with in time of year two : Alyn of Hull , play by Abubakar Salim , who was in the season premiere — and Alyn ’s chum , Addam , who ’s trifle by Clinton Liberty and will debut in episode two .
“ What can I tell you without them dragging me away and beating me up in a small elbow room ? , ” a spoiler - aware Toussaint joked . “ I cogitate I can tell you that Alyn is very much his own humans . He ’s a ego - made man . He does n’t involve help from anybody . I reckon that ’s very much what Corlys was like when he was younger , and he recognizes that spirit in him . He look up to that independence of spirit , and — here ’s a phrase I do n’t use very often — his derring - do . He admire that about him , and that will toy a role in their interactions as we go along . Corlys has less to do with Addam until , I intend , much later on in the time of year . But again , Addam — much like Clinton , who plays him — is a very sweet and innocent person . And I imagine those who come into physical contact with him ca n’t serve but be enamored of him . That is as much as I can tell you , I ’m afraid . ”
