In the hallowed hall of the Pentagon , next to photos of military greats like Patton , Eisenhower , and Nimitz , oncehung a portrayal of a Ensign Chuck Hord , a man who , as the memorial tablet on the deluxe flesh reads , was woefully lost at ocean in 1908 .
Ensign Chuck Hord is no legendary Jack . In fact , Ensign Chuck Hord does n’t even live . The human being in the portrait is just a guy rope with an 80s haircut , and some really ballsy friends .
When that shindig end , Hord refused to take the portrait with him . So his colleague , an entente cordiale of British and Canadian officers , hatched a plan for its prominent position , through a top - secret military operation dub “ The Project . ”

They had a phony plaque grave leaving out explicit battle name to avoid suspicion , and in the wee hours of a July break of day last year , a Canadian officer marched it straight into the Pentagon and installed it in the C - anchor ring hallway . And there it stayed , fair unnoticed , until recently , whenthe WSJ bulge out inquiringwith officials as to why this badly - fated early 20th - century mariner had such a innovative ‘ do . The gigue , as they say , was up .
The DoD has since removed the heroic photo , because it did n’t meet the stringent requirements for position in the edifice . But while Hord is certainly no Eisenhower , he and his cronies will go down in the books as perhaps the gravid military cut-up ever . And for what it ’s worth , Hord did have a storied military career that include hunting drug runners in the Pacific and an bureau with a beer electric refrigerator . So maybe he deserved a spot on those sacred wall after all . [ Wall Street Journal ]
