The2022 Billboard Music Awardsmay have lost a performer, but it’s gained two in return!

After being announced for their first BBMAs performance since 1999,Red Hot Chili Peppersannounced they had to exit the award show’s lineup “due to unforeseen circumstances” via social media on Wednesday. However, bothMachine Gun KellyandDan + Shayhave been added to the star-studded lineup of performers for Sunday’s ceremony, a BBMAs representative confirms to PEOPLE.

Fresh off the release of his latest albumMainstream Selloutin March, MGK will make his performance debut at this year’s BBMAs, where the 32-year-old musician’s a finalist in the top rock artist category. He previously won the award in 2021 along with top rock album for 2020’sTickets to My Downfall.

Dan + Shay previously performed withTori Kellyat the 2019 BBMAs, where the duo earned the top country duo/group award, a category they’re nominated in again this year.

In addition to the newly announced acts,Travis Scott,Ed Sheeran,Miranda Lambert,Elle King, andBecky Gwere revealed as performers for the 2022 BBMAs earlier this week. Scott’s appearance will mark his first televised performance since theAstroworld festival tragedy in Novemberthat left 10 dead and reportedly thousands injured.

Last month,Morgan Wallen,Florence + the Machine,Maxwell, andSilk Sonicjoined the lineup of artists slated to take the stage at the ceremony, which also includesMegan Thee Stallion,Latto,Rauw Alejandro, andBurna Boy, and this year’s Icon Award recipient,Mary J. Blige. Wallen’s performance is his first time singing at an award show since hecame under fire in February 2021 for using the N-word in a leaked video.

MRC Live & Alternative, a division of MRC that produces the BBMAs and several other awards shows, said the decision to book Wallen followed a “thorough review.”

“We oppose discrimination, harassment, or racism of any kind,” MRC said in a statement toBillboard. “We believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect. After a thorough review and robust discussions internally and with the artist’s team, in which we found a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to meaningful work and outreach, we extended an invitation to participate in this year’s show.”

“Ain’t no party like a Diddy party,” he added. “We’re gonna come through with one of the most disruptive lineups in music history with one of the most controversial hosts in musical history — Me!”
