On Feb. 14, around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to an Altoona home, where they found Mazenko dead with a stab wound to the neck.Throughout the investigation, authorities determined that Mazenko lived at the home with her son, Leyo, who was not at the scene and could not be located. Investigators learned that Leyo had been treated at a local hospital the morning prior for a cut to his hand and eventually tracked him to the Pittsburgh International Airport.Police claimed Leyo was using Mazenko’s bank account and had taken an Uber from Altoona and made purchases in the Pittsburgh area.“Altoona Police Officers reached out to The Department of Homeland Security and Allegheny County Police Department, who advised that Leyo had jumped from the 2nd floor of the parking garage at the airport and was currently hospitalized at Allegheny General Hospital being treated for serious injuries,” the press release states.During police questioning, Leyo allegedly confessed to fatally stabbing Mazenko during an argument and also told police she was dead when he left the home, according to Altoona police.Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage?
