Mel B, who said seeing her daughter in her Spice Girls costumes was a “trip,” went on to explain the story behind the pieces.
“Spice Girls, we’re very much a homegrown band. So, we used to style ourselves, we did our own music, we begged producers and co-writers to work with us on the promise that when we’re rich and famous we’ll pay you back (we never did).”

The quintet — which also includedVictoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Melanie C and Emma Bunton — was “broke basically” and ended up styling themselves and making their own clothes with their low budget. “That was 50 cents that top, probably made the skirt myself, skorts they were called,” Mel B remembered.
Phoenix, though, thinks her mom’s fashion was — and still is — the coolest in the game.
