A passenger who attempted a shocking stunt during a recentRoyal Caribbean cruisewas banned from the cruise line for life.
Nick Naydev, a 27-year-old passenger who went on a Symphony of the Seas cruise with his friends, was admonished after he video-taped himself jumping off the 11th floor of the boat and into the ocean while the ship was docked in Nassau, Bahamas.
“This was stupid and reckless behavior and he and his companions have been banned from ever sailing with us again,” the manager of Royal Caribbean’s corporate communications tells PEOPLE.
In the video, which now has over 85,000 views on Instagram, Naydev’s friends can be seen helping him stand on the railing of the ship before he leaps into the ocean. According toFox 13, Naydev estimated the drop was around 100 feet.
“Full send,” he captioned the video.
Royal Caribbean says his friends were also banned from cruising on their ships for life.
According toFox 13, Royal Caribbean informed local police in Nassau, but Naydev says they did not press charges because, “fortunately the police thought the whole situation was amusing.”

Since the incident, Naydev says he did not consider the impact the video would have.
“I just hope I don’t inspire anyone to try this, because I don’t want to feel responsible for any injuries,” he told the local news outlet.
“I am truly astonished at how this video has spread throughout the Internet,” Naydev added. “I did not think this through before I jumped. My idea was this would be a good laugh for my friends and I would just swim back to shore and continue my vacation.”
The video still remains on Naydev’s Instagram page, and one of Naydev’s friends says he is known for attempting stunts similar to this one.
“He’s jumped from those kind[s] of heights before, and we didn’t really care about the consequences with the cruise company,” Konstantin Kryachun, the friend who filmed the jump, toldYahoo! Lifestyle. “We just wanted to get a video of it and make it go viral.”
Royal Caribbean tells PEOPLE they will be “exploring legal action” against Naydev and his friends.
